Barn Beam drill by Millers Falls

Beam Drill-
Offered is a barn beam drill marked "M. F. Co, Millers Falls, Mass".  The highly sought after & respected adjustable folding drill.  The head is in "as found" uncleaned condition, only the  adjusting rods have  been cleaned.  In addition, I believe I have tried about every screw & bolt on it &  everything seems to be freed up.    The left hand side gear is spring loaded  to  engage the drive gears to manipulate the up & down movement of the head and held out of gear with the pawl handle.    The spring loaded head catch works properly.  Has 1/2" ID chuck.  Included is a 2" bit, 12" long with good screw tip & cutters.   One wood handle has a splinter missing, see phots.  Wood base has some minor splits  toward the back end although is quite sound.  Everything seems to function ok, turns smoothly, slides on adjustment rods smoothly.  I see no broken or cracked parts, one set set screw is a replacement. .  Head still retains some original japanning. May have some play in some areas but for its age I feel it is in excellent condition, the shaft that holds the chuck has more play than I would like to see but can be shimmed up.  I would give this a tool condition rating of Exc.
