Description
A rare and very well preserved PATENTED RATCHET BIT STOCK WRENCH as patented and produced by Quimby S. Backus, Chambers Street, New York. This device is designed to be held in the jaws of a standard bit brace and thereby convert it to a wrench. The U.S. Patent was issued to Backus on June 24, 1879. Fully 95% of the original nickel plating remains on this example. This version is exactly as shown in the patent specifications, but at least one example is known equipped with a ratcheting mechanism. An uncommon patented brace wrench in top collector quality condition. Length = 7.00 Inches (Ref. Id No.: 112226) [Free Shipping]
