    A floral souvenir
Vintage gold ring with micro-mosaic from the Biedermeier period, around 1830/1980
    description
Hardly a trip takes place without buying a souvenir, a souvenir. Everyone knows the pretty bottles with olive oil from Greece, the limoncello from Sorrento or the ceramics from Sardinia that you bring with you to loved ones at home or yourself from the sunny weeks of the year. 200 years ago it wasn't much different than it is today. The ring presented here bears witness to this, as it presents a fragrant bouquet in its center, which was probably once such a souvenir from a trip to Italy. It is a fine micro-mosaic in a frame made of dark blue, opaque glass. Roses and other flowers are tied in a bouquet. Small, multicolored glass esserae form the representation; a border made of so-called "Murines", multi-colored patterned glass elements, are set outside as a frame around the arrangement. The mosaic from the first half of the 19th Century was probably not always part of a ring. The ring band made of yellow gold is designed in the form of historical Biedermeier jewelry, but has probably only been created more recently. Perhaps the mosaic was part of a larger piece of jewelry, a necklace or bracelet that could no longer be worn, or parts of which were missing - now as a ring, the mosaic is wearable again and invites you to take a trip to the warm south and the blooming parks the Eternal City.

    about us
    Hofer antique jewelry
arose from the joy of beautiful things. It all started with my grandma, who was a lady who liked to adorn herself. She could tell something about each of her pieces of jewelery and when she opened her jewelery box, a world opened up: fond memories and touching stories connected with the pieces marked the highlights of a lived life. Based on these experiences, over the years a passion grew in me to deal with these small and always very personal objects.
