This is a Heavy duty and beautiful bit brace. This is a Miller Falls early No 872, Heavy weight 10 inch ratcheting Hand Drill Bit Brace. Made In USA. Condition is very good. The chuck is the top of the line Lyon ball bearing type with Leland patented universal jaws that works with older tapered auger bits as well as newer round bits.
This brace is an early 1910 -1917, more than 100 years old. Miller Falls top of the line bit brace with all the best features, it has the fully enclosed ratchet  of the Master Brace but with the Lyon Chuck of the Lyon brace, and being an early model it includes ball bearing wrist handle, which was soon after discontinued as being too expensive. a great feature
This bit brace has been lubricated and Tested. This brace is in great working and cosmetic condition so probably has not seen much use during its lifetime.  Will make a fine user or collectible.
The handles are beautiful tropical rosewood and are also in great condition.
